A hydrogen station for the Guiana Space Centre (CSG)
Commissioned by the European Space Agency and as part of the HYGUANE project, ALLDIS-NERIUS is responsible for installing a hydrogen refueling station, supplied by HRS. The latter will be part of the space site's decarbonisation strategy, thanks to the electrolysis of water powered by a photovoltaic field built nearby. Heavy duty vehicles will be able to refuel with green hydrogen and stationary electric generators will also be able to be powered.
This first overseas order for HRS confirms the recognition of HRS's unique know-how. This implementation will also allow HRS to develop and strengthen its relationships with players in the hydrogen sector, already present on site.
Hyguane Project, replacing carbon hydrogen with renewable hydrogen.
The HYGUANE project (HYdrogène GUyanais À Neutralité Environnementale) aims to decarbonise the activities of the Guiana Space Centre (CSG) by integrating renewable hydrogen into the operations of Ariane 6 rockets. Currently, the hydrogen used is produced by a carbon process. HYGUANE plans to partially replace it with green hydrogen, from an electrolyser powered by a solar power plant of photovoltaic panels. This installation should produce approximately 60 tons of liquefied hydrogen per year for space and 45 tons of compressed hydrogen for local applications, such as heavy mobility.
Led by a consortium including ESA, CNES and companies such as Air Liquide Spatial Guyane, this project is part of a broader strategy to develop the hydrogen sector in Guiana. It also includes training initiatives with the University of Guiana. With a budget of 40.5 million euros, largely financed by ESA and ADEME, HYGUANE could, by 2030, cover up to 40% of Ariane 6's hydrogen needs and strengthen the region's energy autonomy.
About Nerius Invest:
Founded in 2019 by Antoine Madoui, with the support of ASAR INVEST and the GOVINDIN Group, NERIUS Invest is a greentech startup specialising in the production of renewable energy from biomass and waste. Its objective: to contribute to the decarbonisation of industry, mobility, and the electricity mix. Labeled "Industry of the Future Solution Provider", the company is a member of France Innovation and ATEE (Technical Energy Environment Association). Based in Solutré-Pouilly, Lyon, and Cayenne, NERIUS Invest brings together a team of experts, made up of 11 employees, including 7 specialised engineers.
“For this ambitious project entrusted to us by the European Space Agency, we naturally chose to turn to HRS, a player who has already installed many similar stations in Europe and is recognized for the high quality of its equipment and service offering. We are convinced that we have made the best choice to meet the expectations of the Guyana Space Center and the region as a whole.”
